Felony charge for Geneva resident after fraudulent application for benefits submitted

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Geneva woman following an investigation into public assistance.

According to a news release, Mellissa Amblo, 24, was charged with first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.

She’s accused of listing a male family member as living at her home with her- when that person actually resided in Yonkers, New York.

Amblo is accused of doing so to obtain benefits illegally. The fraudulent application was intercepted before anyone received benefits, according to the release.

She was taken into custody without incident.
