Corning man faces felony charges after using incarcerated person’s EBT card

A Corning man was taken into custody on felony charges after a food stamps investigation in the city.

Sheriff Jim Allard says investigators arrested Jeremy Dates, 38, of Corning after he used another person’s EBT card to receive benefits from Steuben County.

According to a news release, the card belonged to a person who was incarcerated at the time. The thefts totaled more than $1,000 and took place during the month of September.

Dates was charged with one count of felony grand larceny and one count of misuse of food stamps.

He was released and the charges will be answered at a later date.
