The City of Geneva is looking for a new city manager with the departure of Sage Gerling, whose last day was Friday, January 14. A job posting was released the following Tuesday.
The starting salary for city manager is estimated to be $120,000 depending on qualifications, says the posting according to Finger Lakes Times. City is residency is required, but timeframe to relocate can be negotiated.
Preferred candidates will have a background in economic development, management, budgeting, labor relations, and team leadership. Minimum of five years senior experience is requested, with 7-10 preferred. Applications are due by February 18.
The city’s director of human resources, Jennifer Slywka, will serve as interim city manager until July 31, or until a new city manager is appointed, depending on which comes first.
Gerling had hoped Assistant City Manager/Comptroller Adam Blowers would assume the position upon her departure, but he is leaving his post at the end of January.
Mayor Steve Valentino says the city will need to sell prospective candidates on the position given the City Council’s tumultuous last two years.
