Upon arrival, they found a one-story wood frame structure showing flames from the front. Firefighters went on offense, as other fire departments arrived on scene.
Montour Falls, Watkins Glen, Mecklenburg and Burdett were all on scene. The Millport Fire Department assisted with standby. The Schuyler County Ambulance was also called to the residence, even though no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was found to be accidental. The investigation into the blaze does remain active, though. The American Red Cross assisted the three occupants of the home.
