First responders in Odessa were called to a serious structure fire over the weekend. The two alarm fire resulted in 75% of a residential structure being destroyed.

The Odessa Fire Department was called to 5202 Park Road in the town of Catherine around 8:35 a.m. on January 16.

According to firefighters, a second alarm was requested for additional tankers and personnel due to seriousness of the blaze.

Upon arrival, they found a one-story wood frame structure showing flames from the front. Firefighters went on offense, as other fire departments arrived on scene.

Montour Falls, Watkins Glen, Mecklenburg and Burdett were all on scene. The Millport Fire Department assisted with standby. The Schuyler County Ambulance was also called to the residence, even though no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was found to be accidental. The investigation into the blaze does remain active, though. The American Red Cross assisted the three occupants of the home.
