Catharine Valley Trail project earns two state tourism awards

The Catharine Valley Trail Experience Project has earned two 2026 New York State Tourism Excellence Awards for its creative marketing and printed materials, the New York State Tourism Industry Association announced July 7.

The project was recognized in categories for organizations with annual tourism operating budgets under $500,000. Award recipients will be honored Sept. 17 during a ceremony and reception in Corning.

East Shore Marketing completed the project on behalf of the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Friends of the Catharine Valley Trail and the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

The awards recognize the project's signage, brochures, printed materials and overall creative work, according to Nigar Hale, executive director of the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce.

Paula Tarallo, founder of East Shore Marketing, said the project highlights how intentional design can showcase New York's outdoor assets and reflects the impact of regional partnerships.

The tourism association said award recipients were selected through a competitive evaluation process conducted by a panel of industry experts. The statewide program recognizes work by destination marketing organizations, attractions and tourism professionals.
