The former Seneca County Finance Director will go on trial January 24 on charges she falsified time cards, claiming she was working when she was not.
The Finger Lakes Times reports Brandi Deeds faces seven felony and one misdemeanor charge. Deeds was indicted over two years ago, following a Sheriff’s Department investigation. The investigation found she had claimed more than $2,000 in pay she had not earned. She resigned in July, 2019. Deeds pleaded not guilty to the charges and has been free on recognizance since.

Former County Manager John Sheppard, who hired Deeds, was charged with official misconduct for improper discipline of Emergency Management Director Melissa Taylor. He resigned in August, 2018 and has also been awaiting trial since.
Deeds and Sheppard were married in 2020. Both are represented by attorney James Doyle of Rochester.
