Many communities compete to give tax breaks to projects they believe will create economic activity. State law automatically grants tax breaks to solar energy projects unless the hosting community opts out.
The town of Junius is considering doing just that. The Finger Lakes Times reports the town is considering drafting a local law that would override the state law, and would not allow granting tax breaks for solar energy projects.
It’s a moot point at the moment. No solar projects are currently planned or proposed in Junius.
