Some couples will see a $400 stimulus check in time for Christmas

Some couples that file taxes jointly and make under $150,000 annually could see a $400 stimulus check.

Illinois Republicans have proposed legislation that could give qualifying residents a small boost just before Christmas.

If passed, single filers earning under $75,000 can get $200 and joint filers making under $150,000 can get $400.

The efforts are similar to what the federal stimulus checks were aiming to do for Americans.

GOP State Representative Tom Demmer stated that the small amount could buy extra groceries or cover some utility bills.

Other states have put in the effort to provide for their residents as well.

California residents are waiting on another batch of stimulus checks worth up to $1,100 to be sent Nov. 29.

9 million in total will benefit from the Golden State Stimulus checks.
