This state has proposed $200 stimulus checks for its residents in time for Christmas

A one time stimulus check valued at $200 has been proposed in the state of Illinois by its lawmakers as a way to help families before Christmas.

Republicans in the state’s House of Representatives made the proposal.

If the proposal is passed, then single filers earning less than $75,000 will get a $200 payments, and joint filers making less than $150,000 will get $400.

Tom Demmer, GOP State Representative, says the point is to do what the federal checks have done for their residents.

He explained that while it isn’t enough money to fix everyone’s issues, it could be enough to have a positive impact. It could cover bills, or provide an additional week of grocery shopping.

California residents can expect another round of $1,100 checks to be sent out Nov. 29, just in time for Christmas shopping.

9 million Californians can expect cash payments from the Golden State Stimulus II program.

They must make between $1 and $75,000 yearly and have filed their 2020 taxes by Oct. 15.

Payments are being sent in batches based on filer’s zip codes on their tax returns.

Californians with zip codes ending in 585-719 will see their checks sent between Nov. 29 and Dec. 13.

Social Security beneficiaries will see a boost in their monthly payments starting in Jan. 2022.

The boost will push the average check to around $1,600 per month thanks to the increase in COLA this year.

2022 will see a 5.9% jump, the highest seen since 1982.
