Stimulus check: additional 2.57 million stimulus checks going out this year worth up to $1,100

Money from the Golden State Stimulus II program is still being sent out to California residents.

6.43 million checks have already been disbursed with 2.57 million left to go.

Altogether, 9 million payments will be issued on behalf of the California Franchise Tax Board.

The payments will help low and middle income families in California that have struggled due to the pandemic.

There is no application or action required by those that qualify. You just need to have filed your 2020 tax returns in time.

There have been two rounds of payments in all.

What is the Golden State Stimulus I and Golden State Stimulus II?

California started sending payments to people who qualified in the amount of $600 and $1,200.

How much they were sent depended on eligibility requirements. The first round was sent out in early 2021.

The second round of checks opened up eligibility making for Californians qualify for payments.

To receive both checks, California checks needed to file their 2020 tax return by Oct. 15, 2021.

The taxpayer’s adjusted gross income needs to be between $1 and $75,000 for 2020. They must be a California resident for at least half of the tax year.

You need to be a resident of the state at the time of payment, and 748,000 new payments were issued Friday.
