The #2 seeded Victor/Pittsford Blue Devils take on #1 Penfield Wednesday night to determine the Class A boys volleyball champion in Section V. For the Blue Devils, they only had to knock off #3 Webster in semi-final round play 3-1 to get there. Victor/Pittsford had to wait to play over two weeks going in to sectional play due to no fault of their, as quarter-final opponent Edison couldn’t field a full team. The Blue Devils are looking for their first sectional crown since 2014 in Class BB play.

Top seeded Penfield’s road to the sectional final has been a fairly smooth trip, defeating #8 Rush-Henrietta 3-0 in quarter-final round play and then #5 Fairport 3-1 in the semi-finals. Penfield has been a frequent competitor in boys volleyball throughout the years, and has won three of the last five sectional titles in Class A, going back-to-back in 2016 and 2017, and winning the 2020 title as well.
Victor/Pittsford and Penfield have met twice in regular season play in 2021, with Penfield taking both matches 3-2 on September 29th and 3-1 on October 20th. The Blue Devils will look to take the rubber match of the season with the biggest prize to this point on the line, a sectional title. The match is Wednesday night at 8 pm at Webster Schroeder High School.
