Open enrollment for Medicare has begun and will remain open until Tuesday Dec. 7.
This period comes around once a year and allows individuals to enroll in health insurance that will cover the next year.
Here are ways to save money while still finding the best coverage for yourself
The first thing to do is to understand the coverage. You need to choose the best plan for your families needs and understand the deductibles, copays and coinsurance.
By understanding these things there will be no surprises down the line for certain circumstances where you need to pay more.
Find a plan with telehealth options. They became widely available during the pandemic and tend to be cheaper than office visits.
Telehealth is also available 24/7.
Preventative care benefits are meant to be used, and can save a lot of money for things that would normally cost a lot. These include things like mammograms, cancer screenings, and immunizations.
Make sure you know how these work though, they’re usually only free when they’re given by a doctor in your plan’s network.
When it comes to prescriptions, Medicare offers plans but it’s a good idea to shop around as well. Sometimes pharmacies offer better supplemental coverage.
