RIT junior forward Andrew Rinaldi (Pierrefonds, Quebec/) scored a goal in the opening minutes of action, but it was visiting Colgate scoring five-straight goals to earn a 5-2 victory in the season-opener for both teams.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Rinaldi stole a puck in the Colgate zone and cleaned up his own rebound to open the scoring 2:10 into the first period.
Colgate answered 41 seconds later after Colton Young tipped a shot from the point by Nic Belpedio past RIT senior goaltender Ian Andriano (Barrie, Ontario/). The Raiders took a 2-1 lead after Arnaud Vachon scored on a shot from the top of the left face-off circle off a draw won by Josh McKechney with 14:58 on the clock.
Colgate scored the lone goal of the second period to build a 3-1 lead. Tommy Bergland flipped a puck over the out-stretched arm of a defender on the Tiger blue line to Young, who beat Andriano with 12:00 on the clock.
Colgate put the game out of reach with two quick goals in the third. Ethan Mandervill took a shot from the point initially saved by Andriano, but Cole Hanson pounced on a loose puck and scored with 17:16 on the clock. Ryan McGuire then skated a puck into the Tiger zone and flipped in a backhanded shot off the bottom of the crossbar at 16:44
Joffe scored on shot from the top of the right-wing face-off circle with seven seconds left in regulation to close the night.
