What are my chances of catching COVID? Use this new calculator to find out

A new calculator can tell you how high your chances are of catching COVID-19 based on your area, living situation, and vaccine status.

The calculator is called the microCOVID project and uses a mathematical equation to determine a person’s risk.

People an enter their location, what activity they want to complete, and other details like mask use and vaccines.

The calculator measures the possibility in “microCOVIDs” and bases the chances out of one million.

If a situation results in a total of 50 microCOVIDs then the chances of contracting the virus are 50 in one million. This takes into account all of the factors provided.

The site also offers a risk budget for people to use, and by keeping their weekly microCOVIDs under 200, it greatly decreases their chances of contracting it.

While the calculator can be used as a tool and is based on science, there is a disclaimer explaining that it should not be used in place of medical advice.
