Under a new directive issued by Governor Kathy Hochul, EMTs can now administer vaccines

Governor Kathy Hochul has issued a directive that will allow EMTs to administer the COVID-19 vaccine.

They had been allowed to administer them before, but the state of emergency ending made it so they no longer could.

This will help counties that have struggled to staff vaccine clinics by giving them more manpower.

Cayuga County Public Health Director Kathleen Cuddy is asking that the state also allow EMTs to help with COVID-19 testing as well.
