Senator Joe Machin called for what he says is a “strategic pause” on the Democrat Party’s $3.5 trillion dollar bill, but Senator Chuck Schumer has no plans to pause.
The bill will address climate change, tax policies, and help social programs.
Schumer and others are aiming to have the bill passed by the fall.
Machin recently published an op-ed saying he would not support the bill or that much spending without knowing more.
Senator Kyrsten Sinema said she would also not support the bill.
Schumer explained that the $3.5 trillion is already the result of a compromise, and senators like Bernie Sanders were pushing for as much as $6 trillion.
Schumer is working hard to come up with a compromise that will help get everybody behind the bill.
