One person was treated at a local hospital after a knife attack and robbery in the city of Ithaca.
According to a news release, on Thursday around 4:20 p.m. police responded to the 400 block of West State Street after receiving a report of a dispute in the roadway.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a male victim was approached by a male suspect who displayed two knives and began attacking the victim.
While attempting to flee- the victim dropped a backpack, at which point the suspect ceased the attack. That’s when the suspect picked up the backpack and fled the scene.
The victim, who was not identified, is known to the suspect, according to police. The victim was treated at an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Police said the investigation is active- and anyone with surveillance systems in the area are asked to review footage and report anything unusual to IPD.
Anyone who might have witnessed the attack is also asked to contact IPD as soon as possible.
