A new study finds that COVID-19 vaccinations likely prevented upwards of 140,000 deaths in the U.S.
The study out of Indiana University looked at state-level vaccination rates and COVID-19 deaths during the first five months of vaccine availability.
Researchers found that by May 9, 2021 approximately 140,000 deaths had been prevented.
In New York, it translated to an estimated 11.7 fewer COVID deaths per 10,000 infections.
