Mans sentenced to prison in Auburn for criminal possession of a weapon

An Auburn man will be spending time in prison after pleading guilty to third degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Brian V. Fassinger, 23, was sentenced in Cayuga County Court for sentencing.

When speaking for himself he admitted he felt very suicidal and needed help, and Judge Fandrich acknowledged his statements and said he had been given a chance prior to this charge and sentenced him with 1 and one-third to 4 years in prison.

Lisa M. Mack, 48, was sentenced to 5 years of shock probation time and $4,000 in restitution for two counts of third degree burglary.

Mack forcibly broke into two car dealerships in Auburn in May of 2020.

Michael L. Vanhouten Sr., 42, was sentenced to probation for aggravated cruelty to animals after shooting his neighbors cat in the spine.

He claimed the cat came onto his property and attacked his own cat before shooting it.

Vanhouten had nothing to say and was given 5 years of probation with $877 in restitution to the family, who had to euthanize their cat, and a do not harass protection order.
