Sheriff Barry Virts reports the “STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign” for the Labor Day Holiday period of August 20 through September 6. The campaign is linked with other law enforcement initiatives already done at key times of the year and is being promoted under a county and statewide umbrella. This campaign targets the time period two weeks before and up to Labor Day on September 6th.
The “STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign” is a locally driven program with all Wayne County law enforcement agencies participating and working together; police departments, state police and the Sheriff’s Office coordinating awareness, education and enforcement activities.
Research findings demonstrate that highly visible, publicized efforts like the “STOP-DWI Labor Day High Visibility Engagement Campaign Period” can further reduce the occurrence of DWI.
