Concerns have been raised after reporting by the New York Times and New York Post revealed that a longtime adviser to Gov. Andrew Cuomo called county executives across the state- gauging their loyalty.
The reporting comes amid a sexual harassment investigation, as well as an impeachment investigation in the state Assembly.
Larry Schwartz has served as a longtime aide to Gov. Cuomo. He’s been the vaccine ‘czar’ throughout the pandemic- and those calls apparently tied loyalty to vaccine doses.
One Democratic county executive, who was not named, was so disturbed that they filed a notice of an impending ethics complaint with the Attorney General’s Office.
“I did nothing wrong,” Schwartz said after. “I have always conducted myself in a manner commensurate to a high ethical standard.”
The three-term Governor has declined calls for his resignation. President Joe Biden stopped short of asking for his resignation, and instead said he’d wait for the investigation to conclude.
