Sheriff: Geneva woman airlifted from Wayne County crash after colliding with UPS truck

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says a Geneva driver was airlifted from the scene of a serious crash that happened during the afternoon hours on Tuesday.

Deputies say Mary M. Bonacci, 78, of Geneva was traveling northbound on Boyd Road in Sodus when she failed to stop at the stop sign at the Glover Road intersection.

As she proceeded through the intersection a United Parcel Service box truck being operated by Joshua Bardeen, 29, of Canandaigua was traveling east on Glover Road.

Deputies say Bardeen had the right of way but was unable to avoid a collision with  Bonacci’s vehicle, which caused her to become entrapped in the vehicle.  She was removed by the fire department and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight due to her injuries.

Bardeen and his passenger Negina Alieva, 25, of Penn Yan were not injured in the collision.

Deputies were assisted on scene by the Wallington Fire Department, Alton Fire Department, Sodus Town Ambulance, Silver Waters Ambulance, Wayne County Advanced Life Support and Mercy Flight.
