A former aide to Governor Andrew Cuomo is speaking out about her experience working with him.
Lindsey Boylan tweeted Sunday that she was sexually harassed by Cuomo “for years.” Boylan worked for the Cuomo administration from March 2015 to October 2018.
She’s now running for Manhattan borough president.
“I’m angry to be put in this situation at all. That because I am a woman, I can work hard my whole life to better myself and help others and yet still fall victim as countless women over generations have. Mostly silently,” Boylan wrote on Twitter. “I hate that some men, like [Governor Andrew Cuomo] abuse their power.”
Earlier in the weekend the Associated Press reported that Governor Cuomo was being considered for U.S. Attorney General in the Biden administration. That detail was not officially confirmed, nor has Cuomo expressed interest in that role, but Boylan said Sunday that she hoped the President-elect went another direction.
Yes, @NYGovCuomo sexually harassed me for years. Many saw it, and watched.
I could never anticipate what to expect: would I be grilled on my work (which was very good) or harassed about my looks. Or would it be both in the same conversation? This was the way for years.

Even though Cuomo is one of the highest paid governors in the country, Boylan’s allegations could quickly snowball into a sexual harassment scandal forcing him to shell out millions of dollars in hush money. What’s more, according to ASK lawyers, a New York-based personal injury attorney team, even if Boylan decides not to take legal action now, the incident could come back to haunt Cuomo when he least expects it since sexual abuse victims can still pursue compensation even if the abuse happened decades ago.
