Chris Young has removed his name from consideration for the Mets’ GM job, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Per Sherman, Young pulled out because of “family considerations,” deciding now was not the time to “uproot” his family.
According to SNY’s Andy Martino, who was first to report Young’s interest in the job, Young first moved to the northeast for his current job with Major League Baseball before quickly relocating to Dallas for family reasons. Per Martino, people had been wondering if Young would really move back to the northeast.
Young, 41, is currently a senior vice president working for the MLB commissioner’s office.
He had a 13-year career as a pitcher in the majors (including with the Mets from 2011-12), retiring after the 2017 season.
Mets president Sandy Alderson said last week that the team would no longer be seeking a president of baseball operations at this time, instead “exclusively” focusing on hiring a GM.
Alderson said at the time that the Mets had interviewed about six candidates for GM, adding that his hope is that the GM they hire will eventually blossom into the president of baseball operations role.
Aside from Young, it is unclear who has interviewed for the GM position. Tampa Bay Rays executive Bobby Heck is not a candidate, per Martino.
Martino reported on Nov. 25 that while the Mets were not yet close to making a hire, they were active in free agency nonetheless.
