For those hoping that economic restrictions are short-lived in the Finger Lakes and Central New York – one county in the Southern Tier that had spent the last couple weeks in ‘yellow’ cluster zone restriction had that designation lifted.
Steuben County was placed in ‘Yellow COVID-19 Cluster Zone’ designation on October 21st, which followed a weeks-long trend of increasing COVID-19 cases.
A county or location is eligible to have the designation removed after 10 days if the infection rate drops low enough.
For Steuben, it doesn’t mean a return to ‘normal’. On Wednesday, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that bars, restaurants and gyms would have to close at 10 p.m. daily. So while yellow restrictions – like having no more than four people per party at restaurants – new restrictions will be implemented.
Monroe and Onondaga counties were recently placed in ‘yellow zone’.
