Four people, two dogs escape injury after apartment house fire in Manchester: Structure heavily damaged, per deputies

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has provided new information on the structure fire reported Wednesday afternoon on FingerLakes1.com.

They say around 2 p.m. deputies, along with firefighters from Manchester, Shortsville, Clifton Springs, Farmington, and the Canandaigua VA responded to 8 North Main Street in the town of Manchester for a two-story apartment house fire.

Deputies say four people and two dogs were inside the residence but able to escape without injuries. It took approximately an hour for the blaze to be brought under control, according to deputies, who say the home was destroyed.

One fire police member was transported to F.F. Thompson Hospital by Shortsville Ambulance for what appeared to be heat exhaustion. The American Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the three adults and four children who reside at the home.

Shortsville and Finger Lakes Ambulance were also both on scene to assist.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
