A Wayne County man was arrested over the weekend after an attempted traffic stop, which led to a pursuit.
William Benjamin Collier III, 39, was ultimately taken into custody when his vehicle collided with a tree.
Police say that on Saturday officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop around 2 a.m. after seeing Collier traveling the wrong way down a one-way street.
Police found a loaded 9 mm pistol, a fentanyl compound, cutting agent, and scale in his car near the tree.
Collier was ultimately charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal possession of a firearm, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
All four of those charges are felonies. Four misdemeanor charges were also filed.
