On Thursday firefighters in Ontario County were called to a structure fire on Seman Road in the town of Naples.
Around 11:55 p.m. deputies responded to 6846 Seman Road in Naples for a reported structure fire. Deputies say the homeowners woke up to the smell of something burning. When checking the source of the odor – they found that a barn was on fire.
By the time firefighters from Naples, Bristol, and Honeoye responded the barn was fully-engulfed. Several other fires began due to wind and embers blowing into nearby fields.
Responding fire companies were able to extinguish the barn and brush fires. There were vehicles parked near the bar, which were a total loss. The barn was destroyed.
Investigators determined the cause of the fire as an electrical overload from an extension cord running some items in the barn.
