Former star athlete from Auburn remembered as someone everyone loved

Local residents are mourning the loss of a member of the Auburn community, as 20-year-old Kaiden Tubbert died suddenly.

The news came by a press release from LeMoyne College.

Tubbert was a double major in marketing and management and leadership and spent the last three seasons as a midfielder for the Dolphins lacrosse team.

Matt Smith, the boys lacrosse coach at Auburn, called the entire ordeal a tragedy for the community.

“He was so full of life, always enjoyed being around people – and people enjoyed being around him. It’s tragic because he was young, but tragic because he had so much to offer and so much to live for,” Smith told Finger Lakes News Radio.

Tubbert scored 78 goals and 144 points in four years with the Maroons hockey team and was a member of the 2014 Section III Division II championship team.
