Phelps contractor charged with grand larceny

Sheriff Kevin Henderson reports that on February 14th at approximately 5:40 p.m. deputies arrested a 55-year-old Phelps resident on grand larceny charges following an investigation into contract work.

Lawrence Schenk, 55, of Phelps was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny after an investigation into events reported in October 2019.

Henderson said that Schenk entered into contract to redo a bathroom for a 74-year-old woman in July 2019 and was paid $2,200 to complete the work.

He never completed the work and never returned the money he was paid.

Schenk was issued an appearance ticket.
