As it turns out – you don’t have to hit the mountains to have some great skiing here in the Finger Lakes or Central New York.
Head right over to Skaneateles for that.
Brian McManus, says the Skaneateles Hill Ski Club, now in its 60th year, is one of the oldest volunteer-run, member-owned ski club east of the Mississippi.
He spoke with CNYCentral about the longevity of the club, and how much work goes into maintaining it.
“Through perseverance, outdoor enthusiasts through the years have worked hard to create a family friendly atmosphere here that is a great place for kids to learn to ski. It is also super affordable with cheapest prices of any ski center and all money raised goes to help keep the slope running,” he told CNYCentral.
It’s member-owned and operated. They’re volunteers, which makes the 60 year run even more impressive.
The Skaneateles Ski Club is open Friday 6 p.m. 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
