Pedestrian airlifted after being struck by vehicle in Ithaca

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office reports that one person was airlifted after being struck by a vehicle in the town of Ithaca.

The incident happened around 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Deputies were called to the 900 block of Mitchell Street in the town of Ithaca.

A vehicle was traveling east on Mitchell Street when it failed to stop for a pedestrian who was crossing at a crosswalk.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 85-year-old Marguerite Layton, of Ithaca. The pedestrian was airlifted to a trauma center.

That pedestrian who was struck was not identified by authorities.
