Auburn man sentenced five years for possessing Calico M100 during drug bust

Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann says that a 33-year-old Auburn man was sentenced to five years in state prison on Tuesday.

On January 4, 2019, the Finger Lakes Drug task Force executed a search warrant at Michael Gainey’s residence in the City of Auburn.

During the search, police recovered a loaded Calico M100 .22 caliber assault weapon, as well as more than sixteen ounces of marihuana and a substantial amount of US Currency.

He was convicted on an attempted criminal possession of a weapon charge, which is a Class D violent felony.

Budelmann says that the case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci.

“The Police did an excellent job detecting, investigating and apprehending this defendant and taking a dangerous weapon out of circulation,” Budelmann said after sentencing.
