A Steuben County pastor is headed to jail.

Nathan Cooper, a 56-year-old pastor from Campbell, was sentenced to six months in Schuyler County Jail for a felony incest conviction.

Cooper was also given 10 years of probation by Schuyler County Judge Matthew Hayden and must register as a sex offender.

Cooper’s conviction stems from a bench trial where he was found guilty of having anal sexual contact with a relative. The incident led to his arrest in November 2022.

A hearing next month will determine his sex offender level.

Cooper faced the possibility of up to four years in prison.
