A Seneca Falls woman will spend four to 12 years in prison for the fatal beating of her 3-year-old son.
Alison Bovio pleaded guilty to manslaughter last October, admitting she was present when her son Peter was fatally beaten in May 2018. She was sentenced Thursday.
She had agreed to testify against her husband, Donald Bovio, the boy’s stepfather. But he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in April and was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
Prosecutors say Donald Bovio used a belt to beat the child, who fell and struck his head. The boy was hospitalized for three days until he was removed from life support and died.
