The Palmyra-Macedon girls lacrosse team had its season come to an end after falling to defending Class D state champion Mattituck/Southold of Section XI, 9-5, in the state semifinals at SUNY Cortland on Friday.
Palmyra-Macedon (16-5) has now lost in the state semifinals for three consecutive seasons.
After Mattituck/Southold (14-5) scored first to take an early lead, Andra Savage scored for the Red Raiders off an assist by Emma Arnold to retie the score.
Palmyra-Macedon tied the score on two more occasions in the first half off scores from Savage and Jamie Walker but never led.
