Deputies seek information after pup left tied to tree in wooded area in Tyre

Sheriff Tim Luce says his office is investigating an act of animal cruelty after a puppy was found tied to a tree in a remote, wooded area near the Route 31 Bridge in the Town of Tyre on May 9th.

Luce says it appears that the suspect, or suspects, tied a rope tightly around the neck of the puppy and tied him to a tree with no food or water.

He says that luckily, a nearby person heard the dog barking and contacted 911 after supplying the dog with food and water. A deputy responded to the scene and contacted Beverly’s Animal Shelter for further assistance.

The puppy is in good health and appears that he was found soon after the suspect left him behind.

Anyone with information about the identity of the pup or suspects is encouraged to call Lt. Tim Thompson by phone at (315) 220-3449. Callers can remain anonymous.
