The state Gaming Commission voted 5-0 at its last meeting to allow del Lago Resort & Casino to reduce the number of its slot machines and table games from the number required by its state gaming license.
The number of slot machines will go from 1,950 to 1,650 and the number of table games will go from 80 to 66.
Del Lago officials submitted a written petition March 22 seeking Commission approval to reduce their floor gaming assets.
According to minutes of the April 29 Commission meeting, the purpose of the petition is to remove underperforming slot and table game assets and to “access the efficiency of asset utilization and patron opportunity without negative effects on patron experience, facility employment or state revenue.”
The request was evaluated by the Division of Gaming. That body considered the effect of the gaming reductions on capital investment made, facility employment and revenues to the state.
Other considerations were whether the reductions would enhance facility stability, eliminate inefficiencies, reduce operating expenses and potential effects on the patron experience.
