An Auburn man was charged Thursday after allegedly stealing a wallet at an electronic gaming center, New York State Police said.
Carl L. Pertilla, 38, of B30 Brogan Manor, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny.
Pertilla picked up another person’s wallet at Lakeside Entertainment in Union Springs and then left, turning in the wallet at Tops Friendly Markets in Auburn later that day, police said. State police said video footage made it clear that the wallet had dropped to the the ground without the owner noticing and Pertilla knowingly took the wallet. Police said nothing was removed the wallet and credit cards were not used before Pertilla turned it in at the supermarket, but the theft of the wallet itself was a crime.
