Former police chief charged in double murder in court for pre-trial hearing

The former police chief charged in a double murder in Sodus was in court Friday for a pre-trial hearing.

Tim Dean – an ex-officer from Sunray, Texas – is accused of shooting and killing Josh Niles and Amber Washburn. The young couple was gunned down in the driveway of their Sodus home last October.

Niles was the ex of Dean's wife, Charlene Childers. She and former police officer Bron Bohlar are also charged in connection to the case. Bohlar recently pleaded guilty to helping Dean rent a car to get back to Texas.

On Friday, Dean heard the evidence against him. Because of the amount of evidence – which includes videos, interviews, and DNA – attorneys were in court for most of the day.

Four witnesses testified so far — an FBI special agent, a deputy from Kansas, an investigator from Texas, and a Wayne County Sheriff's detective.
