Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck has issued a travel advisory for Northern Cayuga County.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution. The Sheriff said, “Northern Cayuga County is currently under a heavy band of lake effect snow with bitter cold temperatures, increasing winds and heavy snowfall. Roadways are treacherous due to snow cover and blowing snow. Please use caution when traveling. Visibility is significantly reduced.”
The Sheriff’s Office advises that if you do travel, be sure you have sufficient warm clothing should you become stranded.
Also, be sure to check in with family, friends and neighbors who may be elderly or vulnerable and ensure they are prepared before and during the storm event.
