Midlakes built a 20-point lead early in the fourth quarter of Tuesday night’s Section V Class B state play-in game against undefeated Dansville at Avon High School and held off a late Mustang charge that cut the lead to 9 to win a 68-56 decision sending the Lady Screaming Eagles back to Buffalo State and the NYSPHSAA Elite Eight.
Alaina Forbes led Midlakes with 34 points, 4 assists, 6 rebounds. Cara Walker added 13 points and 3 assists. Macy Kisner had 8 points and pulled down 7 rebounds after sitting out most of the first half after picking up two early fouls. Sydney Passalacqua grabbed 10 rebounds and Hannah Galloway chipped in 6 points for the Lady Eagles. After a Megan Colacino injury and Kisner’s foul trouble, 8th grader Callie Walker saw significant minutes and played well. Dansville was led by Grace Rittenhouse who scored 18 points in the losing effort.
