Palmyra man accused of producing child porn, distributing it to Europe

Federal prosecutors arrested a 34-year-old man on Friday following an investigation into child porn, which was produced at his home in Palmyra.

David Gfeller, 34, is charged with production, distribution, receipt, and possession of child pornography.

In December 2017, police in Belgium discovered a series of pornographic images of the child. Authorities in Germany, Italy, Portugal and France subsequently discovered it over the course of the next year as well.

Court documents show that through analysis of the photographs – authorities were able to identify the time zone in which the photographs were taken. Additional analysis determined that Gfeller’s name was in the metadata.

That’s when investigators determined that the home shown in the images – was that of Gfeller, located in Palmyra.

On February 12th Homeland Security agents worked with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to locate the house where the images were made.

Then on Friday, agents executed a search warrant at the home, and found Gfeller with the victim. Authorities say Gfeller was arrested and questioned about the photos.

Court documents state that, after being read his Miranda rights, Gfeller told investigators had been making child pornography of the child for 3 years.

He could face up to 30 years in prison, a lifetime of post-release supervision, and a $250,000 fine if convicted.

Additional court action is expected on Tuesday.
