After two years, del Lago still betting on success

Feb. 1 marked the second anniversary of the 2017 opening of the $440 million del Lago Resort & Casino on Route 414.

Thomas Wilmot, president of the Wilmorite Corporation of Rochester, owner of del Lago; and del Lago General Manager Mark Juliano talked about the casino’s first two years and their plans in a recent phone call with the Finger Lakes Times.

The two officials said in advance they did not want to discuss the recent Moody’s Investor Service downgrading of del Lago’s credit rating due to lower than expected financial performance.

They said despite revenue and attendance not being what they’d like, they are optimistic about the future. Three reasons for their optimism are a major expansion of a gaming area for gamblers who smoke, the addition of a second hotel on site and the likelihood of sports wagering.
