A Lewis County child has died after contracting measles, Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement.
Hochul described it as New York’s first measles-related death in 30 years.
The governor urged vaccination and said the state would continue using established public health measures to protect residents.
Her statement did not provide the child’s age, vaccination status or details about possible exposures.
