I-690 westbound lane closures set for Thursday and Friday in Syracuse

Westbound Interstate 690 in Syracuse will be reduced to one lane between Exit 18 at Midler Avenue and Exit 17 at Teall Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, and Friday, Oct. 30.

The restrictions will allow guide rail work as part of the Interstate 81 Viaduct Project, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.

Construction is weather-dependent, and the planned restrictions may change based on conditions.

DOT urged motorists to slow down and drive responsibly through work zones. The agency noted that speeding fines are doubled in work zones and that multiple work-zone speeding convictions could lead to a driver's license suspension.
