Construction is underway on an expansion of Seneca Lake Resorts at Sampson State Park in Seneca County, where operators are preparing to add 68 recreational vehicle sites to the lakeside destination.
Seneca Lake Resorts announced the start of ground preparation in an Oct. 24 social media update, confirming that grading work has begun in the park’s 800-loop camping area. The company said construction updates will continue throughout the winter as the project progresses.
The expansion is the latest investment in the resort, which operates through a public-private partnership with New York State. The business, formerly known as SamSen Parks, is operated by SamSen LLC, a project of the Waterloo-based Sessler Development organization.
The partnership began in 2018 with plans to expand recreational opportunities along Seneca Lake. Since then, the company has developed RV accommodations, cabins, boating facilities and other amenities at Sampson State Park.
According to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Sampson State Park encompasses more than 2,000 acres along the eastern shore of Seneca Lake. Camping and boating are among its primary recreational activities.
The park also features a marina, swimming beach, hiking trails, playgrounds and other outdoor recreational facilities. Seneca Lake Resorts operates a portion of the park’s accommodations and marina facilities.
The company’s existing resort offers RV camping, cabin rentals, boat rentals and marina services, along with event facilities and other activities.
The latest expansion will increase the number of RV accommodations available through the resort, although the company has not announced a completion date or specified when reservations for the 68 additional sites will become available.
Details about the new sites, including utility connections, seasonal availability and pricing, have not yet been released.
Seneca Lake Resorts said it plans to provide additional information as construction continues through the winter.
