Political campaigns are using artificial intelligence for research and voter outreach as well as advertising, according to Spectrum News.
Syracuse University political science professor Grant Reeher said the technology’s role in opposition research is growing.
Reeher said campaigns also can use AI to identify likely voters, develop canvassing plans and craft messages.
KJ Bagchi of the Chamber of Progress said Democrats tend to emphasize research applications while Republicans more often use AI to generate ads.
A 2025 Pew Research poll found 71% of Americans would view a candidate less favorably if they knew AI helped write the candidate’s speech.
