Ethel Peters has ended her 34-year tenure as Geneva City Republican Committee chair, with Terri Haskins chosen to succeed her, according to Finger Lakes Daily News.
Peters, a retired school principal who turns 90 on Oct. 18, led her final meeting Sept. 21 at the Geneva Housing Authority on Lewis Street.
Committee members recognized her decades of work for the party and community, while Haskins pledged to continue that work.
Peters expressed confidence in Haskins and said the time had come for younger members to assume leadership.
She plans to remain on the committee while spending more time with family and friends, following years of involvement with organizations including St. Michael's Church and Happiness House.
