A man accused of contacting a protected person by telephone faces a felony charge following a several-week investigation by Auburn police detectives.
Jared Meade, 32, was arrested Tuesday after police said he violated a full stay-away order of protection that barred the contact.
The department identified the incident location as the eastbound arterial approaching Columbus Street in Auburn.
Meade was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a class A misdemeanor, for violating the order.
Police also charged him with aggravated family offense, a class E felony, because of a prior domestic-related criminal conviction.
He was taken to Auburn Police Department headquarters for processing, then transported to the Cayuga County Jail to await a centralized arraignment hearing.
